Current Projects:
 
A+ Schools: Providing executive coaching services to the new Executive Director focused on action planning, aligning staff roles with identified priorities, and board development. Designing multi-day staff retreat. Building staff capacity around collecting, managing, and leveraging qualitative data in the form of constituent stories.
 
Remake Learning: Articulating a theory of change and developing metrics for the region's STEM Ecosystem. Working with ecosystem members to establish a metrics action plan.
 
Arden Theatre: Designing and implementing a multiyear evaluation of the Theatre's 3rd-5th grade residency program for Philadelphia area schools with a focus on quality program implementation change in classroom teacher practice and student outcomes.
 
The Pittsburgh Promise: Facilitating and managing a cross-sector design team (PPS, Mayor's office, DHS, foundation community) charged with connecting more students to the resources they want and need in a timely and dignified manner to increase the number of students Pittsburgh Public School students graduating from and succeeding after high school. Ongoing since 2015.
 
Pennsylvania Council on the Arts: Evaluating the Council's in-depth professional development / arts residency program that pairs master teaching artists with classroom teachers. Ongoing since 2013.
 
Past Projects:
 
RAND Corporation: Co-led a study of facilitators and barriers of arts education partnerships in Allegheny County with Dr. Catherine Augustine.
 
The Heinz Endowments: Engaged stakeholders in a participatory design process for the first TAP retreat (a multi-day professional learning opportunity) and served as the retreat's lead facilitator.
 
The Mentoring Partnership of SW PA: Facilitated strategic planning process with staff and Board members and developed metrics for successful implementation.
 
Teaching Artists Guild: Researched and managed the development phase of the organization's teaching artist mapping initiative.
 
Ingenuity: Reviewed results from Ingenuity's 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 arts education data collection efforts in the Chicago School District and wrote copy for public progress report.
 
Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council: Facilitated the development of a revised strategic plan. Designed and facilitated a community-wide visioning process for the arts and culture sector.
 
David S. and Karen A. Shapira Foundation: Interviewed local and national Jewish early childhood stakeholders and reviewed all local Jewish Early Childhood Education Initiative evaluation reports. Advised foundation on a path forward for expanding and deepening Jewish early childhood work in the Pittsburgh area.
 
Allegheny Intermediate Unit / Benedum and Grable Foundations: Evaluated STEAM grants to determine industry standards for creating STEAM learning spaces in schools, school site success indicators, and evidence of student impact.
 
The Pittsburgh Promise: Built consensus among Pittsburgh education stakeholders including foundation representatives, Pittsburgh Public Schools leaders, and government officials via individual and facilitated group meetings in preparation for submitting a citywide education proposal to a national foundation. Drafted proposal and letters of support. Ensured timely and complete submission to the foundation.
 
Americans for the Arts: Analyzed state level arts education reports. Synthesized findings and wrote report targeted to AFTA’s new cohort of state level arts education advocates. AFTA released report at 2015 national conference. Coded and analyzed U.S. Department of Education arts education grantees’ final evaluation reports. Identified trends in grantee program designs and program evaluation efforts. Reported recommendations to national arts education community.
 
President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities: Evaluated the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities’ Turnaround Arts Initiative. This work included taking lead on designing a classroom teacher log, conducting school site visits, overseeing qualitative data analysis, and coauthoring the final report.
 
Gateway to the Arts: Evaluated Gateway’s Rural TALL professional development program (a program that trains emerging teaching artists to work in rural school settings). Conducted a study of arts education programs offered by other organizations to support GTA’s strategic planning process.
 
RAND Corporation: Served as arts integration expert on a program evaluation team focusing on the quality and impact of summer learning programs on low-income and low-achieving students.
 
Marin Community Foundation: Led a team of arts educators providing technical assistance to two Marin County school districts in a program evaluation and student assessment initiative.
 
Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra: Conducted evaluations of current education program offerings and designed a patron survey effort.
 
Pasadena Unified School District: Created a program implementation evaluation for their My Masterpieces program. This program includes professional development for classroom teachers, field trips to local cultural organizations, supporting grade-specific lesson plans to prepare students, and family passes to participating institutions.
 
24th Street Theatre: Developed a strategic plan for the organization. Designed and facilitated two strategic planning retreats for staff and Board members.
 
Santa Barbara Symphony: Created program evaluation plan for symphony performances and community/outreach programs. Designed online patron surveys, teacher surveys, and student assessments.
 
Los Angeles Philharmonic Association: Developed and oversaw implementation of department-wide program evaluation plan for the Education Department. Evaluation initiatives targeted programs for children, young musicians, and adults, with a focus on the new Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA) initiative.
 
Arts For All (Los Angeles County Arts Commission): Coached Redondo Beach Unified School District, Glendale Unified School District, Lawndale Elementary School District, and Lennox School District’s Community Arts Teams in designing and implementing K-12 arts education policies, strategic plans, and budgets.
 
The Colburn School: Designed and implemented assessments for the Summer Encounter multidiscipline arts program.
 
CalArts: Designed and implemented pre/post assessments and three-year program evaluation of the Community Arts Partnership Summer Arts Program (a multidiscipline program).
